Gigmasters
History
Gigmasters.com was founded in February of
1997 by three New York City music enthusiasts -
Kevin H. Kinyon, Michael Caldwell, and Alfred
Freund. Their mission was to create a perfectly
organized search engine of actively gigging
musicians - a Yellow Pages of sorts, which would be
used by those needing to locate and hire live music.
25,000 musicians and entertainers later, Gigmasters
had evolved into the Internet's premiere booking
service for live music and entertainment. The
company incorporated in January 2000, and the
Gigmasters booking service for live entertainment
was born.
Gigmasters Today
Gigmasters is now the Internet's preeminent
live entertainment booking service with over 200,000
previous and current users located throughout the
United States and Canada. Gigmasters offers
professional event planners and buyers of
entertainment the ability to hire live bands,
singers, pianists, jazz trios, string quartets,
harpists, DJ's, comedians, magicians, clowns,
hypnotists, and dozens of others. Customers save
time and money because they can contact an unlimited
number of entertainers with just one click of the
mouse, then watch as the entertainers bid in order
to get hired for the job.

| Dear Ric,
PLEASE READ...This was sent to all Nashville agents today.
I know this does not apply to all of you but please read so that
everyone is clear what is expected from all talent auditioning for
any casting director. Thanks Sharon
Could we all make it a rule for all talent you send me for
acting roles to have a recent, quality 8x10 head-shot with an
updated resume, cut to size and attached properly. Also, they should
always bring at least 3 head-shots and resume combos to every
audition. (I don't always need 3, but they should have them in hand)
Comp-cards are for models... Get a shot out of all their photos that
would make an inexpensive head-shot... Its industry norm. If... I
know you are telling them this... I can tell you who is not
conforming and we can all get better & more professional. (I am
getting snapshots, computer copies from bad printers, Polaroid,
photo-copies from black & white copying machines, etc.) Seriously...
They need to spend a little money on the necessary tools of what
should be a professional, acting talent pool and show up a few
minutes early to do paperwork, not late. I care about our
appearance, future and an attitude of growing professionalism. We
should not treat this as a hobby... They are representing all of us
to the world. Whether it's a small in-house job or a high paying
national or international job. We should treat them all the same. We
should always be great!
